Decorating Using Leather Furniture and Glass Tables

Decorating Using Leather Furniture and Glass Tables

Leather furniture and glass tables provide many decorating options. You may place them such that they blend with the rest of the décor or they can be the focal point. They can be used to complement your decorating style, may it be an 80’s style bachelor pad, corporate office or a traditional setting that needs a modern touch. Use them to decorate on what you already have.

Plan before starting to decorate

Despite the ability of the glass tables and leather furniture to blend easily with most styles, it is important to have an idea of the final decor before starting to decorate. This will ensure that you do not end up with an inconsistent looking room. Ensure that the decorations balance. For instance, you can place a vintage vase on top of a modern glass top table if your home has vintage style décor. The vase will bring balance between the vintage style décor and modern table. You can also face your vintage sofa towards the flat-screen TV without worrying about the contrast. Leather furniture and glass table provide a chance to have contrasting styles, enabling you to show off your norm defying creativity.

Coordinating the colors

When decorating, keep color coordination in mind. Use colors that will complement with your decorating style. For instance, brown leather is better placed for your vintage home décor. If the room you are decorating is in neutral colors that are bright, you should use black leather furniture. For dark carpets and walls, beige leather can help to brighten the room. Use leather furniture in colors contrasting with the rest of the décor.

Decor for a Large Window

Decor for a Large Window

If your house is endowed with a large window, you may be faced with a decorating dilemma wondering which window treatments to use. The window treatments to use should depend on their purpose. It could be you want to make the window appear smaller or to make it the main attraction. May be you want to use the treatments to hide a view that is not attractive or to frame a beautiful view. Whatever your needs are, you can use draperies, blinds and other features for your window treatments.

Using roman shades

For a large window, looks for roman shades that are not heavy such as bamboo roman shades. The shades are eco friendly, and they allow little light in. If you are using blinds that have a deeper color, contrast them with white cotton panels. Light colored blinds should be used with curtains that have a color that blends well with the color of the wall to add a feeling of openness to the space. If your home has clean lines, you may skip the curtains. Instead, place a slipper chair or a tall wing back at the windows front and use a color that is standing out.

Lambrequins

You may use curvy lambrequins that are set within frame when you want less of the window to be seen and more of décor. The lambrequins can even reach at the bottom of the window. If you like, they may have a sheer fabric underneath to improve privacy and to control light. To make the floor speak the window’s design language, you can set décor such as Victorian or gothic statues and make sure they are size-appropriate. If the home designs are more towards ultra chic or contrived design, then lambrequins are right for the large windows.

Using Sofas to Decorate a Kitchen Eating Area

Using Sofas to Decorate a Kitchen Eating Area

If your kitchen has eating area space that is not used up by the other kitchen furniture, you can turn it into a sitting space for relaxation and comfort. This is by adding a loveseat or a sofa in addition to other decorating pieces such as ottomans and a coffee table. The tips below will help you to turn your space in the kitchen into an area of relaxation.

Plan the layout

Measure the available space and decide the furniture to use. While measuring, consider the electrical outlets, the windows and the ease of movement. It would be easier to create a layout of the space on a graph paper and use furniture cutouts to determine where to place the furniture. Rearrange the cutouts until you achieve the desired arrangement. Consider the empty space on the walls to use it for shelves.

Selecting the furniture

The furniture to use will depend on the space available. If the space is large, you can place a sofa while a smaller space can use a loveseat. You can also use slim line recliners or club chairs in place of a sofa. Use furniture with fabrics that are easy to clean such as ultra suede or leather. Fabrics that are loose woven and have multiple colors can hide stains while vibrant prints will add color the space. Ensure there are tables near the chairs or the sofa, for placing drinks or a lamp. Use coffee tables and side tables for that purpose. Select furniture that may be used for many purposes. For instance, ottomans can be used as footrests or as a table.

Creating Unity between the Kitchen and the Dining Room

Creating Unity between the Kitchen and the Dining Room

You can decorate your kitchen and the dining room such that they visually become one by using cohesive décor. This works regardless of whether the two areas have an open design without walls, or they have a part or full wall. Create visual oneness by merging the kitchen décor with that of the dining room by using the floor, fabrics, furniture, color and the accessories.

Flooring

Cohesive flooring can help you to create unity between the kitchen and the dining room. You can do this by installing the same flooring material in the kitchen as in the dining room. Some of the materials you can use are ceramic tiles or porcelain because they are suitable for the kitchen as well as the dining room. Hardwood may not be appropriate for the kitchen due to possibilities of spills, but you can use vinyl flooring with wood grain prints. If you are low on budget, you can use matching rugs to bring the two areas together without changing the flooring. Place one rug under the table and the other one in front of the sink.

Using fabrics

You can create cohesiveness décor by use of fabric. For instance, you can use fabric similar to that covering the dining room seats to cover the kitchen stools or the breakfast bench. A print in the dining room drapes can be a window topper in the kitchen.
