Where to Place the Love Seat in the Bedroom

Where to Place the Love Seat in the Bedroom

A love seat is a cozy choice for the bedroom. It can appear integrated into the room if it is placed by using the space well, for decorating and comfort. The seat provides compact seating space, and it is a good seating choice in the bedroom. Loveseats are available for different bedroom décors. You will find styles that range from antiques to future models that can even change shape. Choose the loveseat that is suitable for your bedroom.

Plan the layout

To know how to arrange the loveseat, sketch the layout of the bedroom. You should mark where you would position the bed and also note where other features such as doors, alcove, shelves and fireplace are located to guide you on where to arrange the loveseat. Cut out scaled pieces of furniture such as the loveseat, nightstands, bed and other accessories and arrange them on the floor sketch. This will allow you to tryout different arrangements without having to move the furniture around in the room. You only need to move the pieces of cutouts on the paper layout. You can use a scale of 1 inch to 1 foot, which means that a loveseat that is five feet will be five inches on the paper.
Placing the loveseat at the bed’s foot. If the room is longer, you should place the loveseat at the bed’s foot. The seat should face the room. If you have an open floor like that of a studio apartment, the arrangement can also apply. To connect the seat and the bed, you can use an area rug that can fit both under the bed and under the love seat. If you want to define a separate seating area, you can use a rug that fits under the seat and the coffee table.

Angling the loveseat towards the bed

For conversational purposes, you can angle the loveseat such that it faces the bed while placed near the wall. For this to work, the bed should be placed in a corner or with headboard against a wall. For a family home or a couple’s bedroom, placing the loveseat facing the bed’s head is convenient because it allows the members of the family to take part in different activities for instance, working in bed or reading near the window. To create an attractive seating area, you can include a coffee table or an end table within reach. You may also place an area rug bringing together the loveseat and the table to define the seating area.

Centering the loveseat below a window

If your bedroom has a bow window, picture window or a bay window, you can place the loveseat below the window in the natural light. To create a balanced look, center the seat on the window’s front. To create a harmonious effect, use accent pillows with similar colors to those of window treatments. You can even place pillows against armrests to create an inviting space to sit for looking out through the window. A loveseat in the bedroom creates a sitting space and also makes the room multifunctional. Proper arrangement of the room is required in order to achieve the desired purpose of the seat and to get the best out of the room.
