How to Set Up Your Home with Tropical Décor

How to Set Up Your Home with Tropical Décor

Many homeowners today value décor as an important aspect of their homes. Home décor can go a long way in increasing the value of your property, while making it aesthetically pleasing at the same time. One of the most popular themes today is tropical décor, which places emphasis on minimalism and tropical style of life.

Tropical themes are popular as you can easily set up your home with the décor without having to break the bank. And what makes it even better is that you don’t need to revamp your current décor or theme completely. A few changes in lighting and furnishing will do enough to bring the tropical breeze to your retreat. Here are some easy ways through which you can go tropical with your home!

Lighting

Lighting is the most important aspect of tropical décor. The whole idea of a tropical theme is to bring the outdoors, indoors. In other words, you want to make sure that your lighting scatters gently in your home. It should incorporate earthy tones and color schemes that tropical décor is known for. To do so, you must first move your furniture and other fixtures away from windows and walls. This will give your home the sundrenched look. As for lighting fixtures, you can easily purchase tropical themed overhead lamps, palm tree shaped chandeliers, and sea shell based sconces to give your home just the right look.

Keeping Your Home Cool and Your Energy Bills Low

Keeping Your Home Cool and Your Energy Bills Low

The summertime is officially over in most parts of the world as the autumn breeze has started to kick in. With winter just on the horizon, it’s time we clean up our heating and HVAC systems. That being said, summer is still raging strong in other parts of the world, and even in some parts of the US, including Arizona and Texas to name a few. Humidity in these parts of the country is always a challenge to your home and its energy efficiency. However, there are ways through which you can keep your home cool and your energy bills low.

Internal Heat

Ever had a feeling that your home is just hotter than other homes, despite the fact that it has less furniture? We have internal heating to blame for that, a result of heat emanating lighting fixtures, electronic devices, household appliances, and so on. All these electronics can raise the average temperature within your property. Hence, it is best to turn off any unnecessary lighting fixtures, electronics, and other things to preserve the temperature in your property. On another note, remember to keep any heat emitting devices far from the air conditioning unit. This will help you maintain cool temperatures in your property without incurring hefty energy bills.

Air Conditioning and Fans

Many people fail to realize that the air conditioning system contains a thermostat. When you enter a temperature for the air flow in the AC, let’s say 20° C, it will not deliver chilled air at 20° C. Instead, it will regulate the air in the area to 20° C. That way, the bigger the area is, the more energy your AC will consume. This, as a result, increases your energy bills significantly. If you have air conditioners in different areas of your home, make sure to keep them closed. This way, the AC will be able to regulate the temperature quickly, and will then work on standby as the temperature reaches the selected temperature.

Glass Roofs and Why You Should Have Them

Glass Roofs and Why You Should Have Them

I don’t know about you, but whenever I’m in a home that features a glass roof, I’m simply mesmerized. And that’s been happening in every home that has a glass roof or glass roofs. The level of personalization and visual appeal achieved through these roofs is incomparable to any other type of renovation in my opinion. In fact, it has been a growing trend since 2012 when glass roofs started becoming mainstream décor additions. On top of that, the sheer amount of materials available in glass, from double to triple insulated, makes them an ideal choice for any modern homeowner. While I could create an endless list of reasons as to why you should have these roofs in your property, I’m going with the top 5 here, having to restrain myself for the sake of the readers. Enjoy!

5) Promote Natural Lighting

I think this is the most obvious reason as to why you should get glass roofs for your home. If you have a single story home in a nice community or the outskirts, then you probably shouldn’t waste any more time and get glass roofs installed. The natural lighting that the roofs provide will compliment the theme in your home.
